Tamarindo and Playa Grande
Carts for the surf towns
Tamarindo is the busy surf town south of Flamingo, with Playa Grande just across the estuary. Our main focus is Flamingo, Potrero and Brasilito, but some of our partners deliver here too.
If you’re staying in Tamarindo, Playa Grande or Playa Langosta, we can usually find a partner to drop a cart at your door and collect it at the end of your stay.
Where to go
The surf towns by cart
Tamarindo beach
Surf schools, beach bars and the busiest strip on this part of the coast. Parking is tighter here, so a cart helps.
Playa Langosta
The calmer beach just south of Tamarindo town, good for a quieter afternoon.
Playa Grande
A long, wide surf beach across the estuary. It’s a separate drive around, not a short hop from Tamarindo.
Staying in Flamingo?
Tamarindo is a longer trip from Flamingo. Most of our guests use the cart around Flamingo and take a car or shuttle for a day in Tamarindo.
Good to know
Before you drive
The cart company walks you through everything at drop-off. These are the basics.
More questions? See the golf cart FAQ.
Charging
Plug it into a normal outlet overnight. Range depends on the cart, anywhere from about 30 to 75 km on a full charge, so plugging in every night keeps you covered.
Drivers
Most companies need drivers to be at least 18, and some ask younger drivers to add extra coverage. Bring your driver’s license, and we’ll confirm the rules for your cart.
Roads
Most rental carts here are street legal, so you can drive between towns. Treat it like a car: seatbelts on, no drinking and driving, and take dirt roads slowly.
After dark
Most carts have headlights, but many roads here have no streetlights. Drive slower at night and watch for people walking.
